Looks like another amazing set of figures on the way from Irwin next year.
A few questions are remaining, however. What about Series 9, 10 and 11? And the Striking Z figures series 3? Also, what about the second series of Model Kits and the Scouter / Dragon Radar Toys? I’m sure there’s more good news on the way from Irwin soon…

More IF Labs
I’ve put together a small page for IF Labs, who officially gets the award for “tightest-lipped-toy-company-in-the-entire-world”. Being thus, the images from Figures.com are all we’ll be getting for a while, and it appears that we ought to be thankful for those—they apparently fought for them.
I’ve listed the announced assortments on the new page, so enjoy.

More Pre-Toyfair news from Figures.com
Figures.com has just put up images of the new sound&light figures, which Irwin has announced will be evolving into a new series of “Energy Glow” figures, a prototype of which was on display at the show. It looks fairly impressive—the gimmick gets an 8 on the 10-point ‘silly gimmick’ scale.
I do think that I speak for a lot of collectors when I say that I’d rather see more regular figures (except perhaps some super-articulated, Spider-Man type 5” figures) than all of these gimmicks. It seems a shame that we’re asked to pay $3-5 more for a figure because of gimmick; especially when companies such as Toy Biz and others build light, motion, and sound gimmicks into nearly every figure without increasing the price. It’s enough to make me start collecting Star Wars figures again. :-)

New Irwin Sound&Light Fighters
Toyfever.com has images of the upcoming Irwin Sound&Light fighters—these figures have built in sound chips and lights to simulate battle action. It’s another gimmick figure set, but let’s hope that it leans more towards the Striking Z Fighters as far as the ‘gimmicky-ness’ goes, rather than the SSW.
Look for close-ups of these figures here soon!

IF Labs coverage at Figures.com
The New York Pre-Toyfair show seems to have resumed, and images from the IF Labs table have been posted at Figures.com, here.
I’ve got a few things to say about these new figures, but I’ll wait to pass judgement until I’ve seen a little more. I hope they have more images than just those three…

Series 5 Pages
I’ve updated the pages for new Irwin Series 5, which can be found here. New links and Palisades page coming soon.
Also, Figures.com has confirmed that the NY Toyfair has been temporarily postponed, but from the tone of their article, it sounds like the show will resume this week.

Son of a Bitch Must Pay!
We just wanted to send out our condolences to anyone who has been affected by the “terrorist” attacks in New York and Washington—our prayers are with you.
As a side note, I think it’s safe to assume that the pre-toyfair show is off, so I wouldn’t expect coverage of that anytime soon.

Anime Channel Petition Bogus
Sadly, Time Warner announced that they had made no such statement about an all-anime channel. The petition was a hoax.
On a related note, Despotes wasn’t the only one who had someone else sign the petition for them… If you run even a quasi-popular site, I’d check the email address you leave for contact there.

Wow--real intelligence
Hmmm, that’s funny, I don’t remember signing any online petition for an anime-only channel. Whoever signed me up—bite me.
Don’t get me wrong, folks, I’m not against an anime channel, but it’s really sad when people with teeny tiny minds decide to add other people, such as Mr. E from PN and myself, to these petitions. I’d probably have signed it myself if given proof that it was legit. So get a life, really.
